MILITARY PAY AN AMERICAN TRAGEDY

MILITARY PAY
CINDY WILLIAMS was appointed by Obama as an Assistant Director for NATIONAL SECURITY in the Congressional Budget Office.

This is an Airman’s response to Cindy Williams’ editorial piece in the Washington Times about MILITARY PAY, it should be printed in all newspapers across America .

Ms. Cindy William  wrote a piece for the Washington Times denouncing the pay raise(s) coming service members’ way this year citing that she stated a 13% wage increase was more than they deserve.

A young airman from Hill AFB responds to her article below. He ought to get a bonus for this.
“Ms  Williams:
I  just had the pleasure of reading your column, “Our GI’s earn enough” and I am a bit confused. Frankly, I’m wondering where this vaunted overpayment is going, because as far as I can tell, it disappears every month between DFAS (The Defense Finance and Accounting Service) and my bank account. Checking my latest earnings statement I see that I make $1,117.80 before taxes per month. After taxes, I take home $874.20.  When I run that through the calculator, I come up with  an annual salary of $13,413.60 before taxes, and $10,490.40 after.

I work in the Air Force Network Control Center where I am part of the team responsible for a 5,000 host computer network. I am involved with infrastructure segments, specifically with Cisco Systems equipment. A quick check under jobs for “Network Technicians” in the Washington , D.C. area reveals a position in my career field, requiring  three years’ experience in my job. Amazingly, this job does NOT pay $13,413.60 a year. No, this job is being offered at $70,000 to $80,000 per annum………… I’m sure you can draw the obvious conclusions.

Given the tenor of your column, I would assume that you NEVER had the pleasure of serving your country in her armed forces.
Before you take it upon yourself to once more castigate congressional and DOD leadership for attempting to get the families in the military’s lowest pay brackets off of WIC and food stamps, I suggest that you join a group of deploying soldiers headed for AFGHANISTAN ; I leave the choice of service branch up to you. Whatever choice you make though, opt for the SIX month rotation: it will guarantee you the longest possible time away from your family and friends, thus giving you full “deployment experience.”

As your group prepares to board the plane, make sure to note the spouses and children who are saying good-bye to their loved ones. Also take care to note that several families are still unsure of how they’ll be able to make ends meet while the primary breadwinner is gone. Obviously they’ve been squandering the “vast” piles of cash the government has been giving them.

Try to deploy over a major holiday; Christmas and Thanksgiving are perennial favorites. And when you’re actually over there, sitting in a foxhole, shivering against the cold desert night, and the flight sergeant tells you that there aren’t enough people on shift to relieve you for chow, remember this: trade whatever MRE’s (meal-ready-to-eat) you manage to get for the tuna noodle casserole or cheese tortellini, and add Tabasco to everything. This gives some flavor.

Talk to your loved ones as often as you are permitted; it won’t be nearly long enough or often enough, but take what you can get and be thankful for it. You may have picked up on the fact that I disagree with most of the points you present in your open piece.

But, tomorrow from KABUL , I will defend to the death your right to say it.

You see, I am an American fighting man, a guarantor of your First Amendment right and every other right you cherish…On a daily basis, my brother and sister soldiers worldwide ensure that you and people like you can thumb your collective noses at us, all on  a salary that is nothing short of pitiful and under conditions that would make most people cringe. We hemorrhage our best and brightest into the private sector because we can’t offer the stability and pay of civilian companies.

And you, Ms Williams, have the gall to say that we make more than we deserve?

A1C Michael Bragg,  Hill AFB AFNCC

IF YOU AGREE, PLEASE PASS THIS ALONG TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE AND SHOW YOUR SUPPORT OF THE AMERICAN FIGHTING MEN AND WOMEN.
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!

I love America my country the home of the brave and the land of the free but I see one injustice here that really needs reform. Our men and women in uniform have put their lives on the line when they join the military in order to protect and serve the great people of this great nation. Many could make the same or better money serving burgers at a fast food restraunt with little or no risk yet they choose to put themselves in harm’s way takeing the higher road and servinging their country. Some would say they get a great education from this service which gives them an advantage when searching for a job after service but the problem with that is the only jobs we our creating in this country is serving burgers as a fast food restraunt as all other jobs are leaving America faster than mexicans reproduce. Here is my dilemma we have a President and members of the house and senate who can send these very talented young men and women into harms way for this meager pay while increasing benefits for those on welfare as well as their own salaries. Many of these senators as well as congressman are too lame to survive a power outage or determine they have run their car out of fuel without an assistant yet they make far more than those much more deserving our men and women in uniform.Where is the justice when a person who risk nothing makes fifty to one hundred times more than one who risks everything? If this is not modern day slave labor I do not know what is. I have the utmost respect for those who serve in the military and little to no respect for the pigs who serve in the senate and congress as they have lost their way. We have young bimbo journalist as well as some senators and congressmen stating that our military is well paid or even overpaid ? Who can really determine what is just pay for putting your life in harm’s way? The only measure that is the obvious is it is more than flipping burgers it is a service of the highest honor and the pay should be appropriate for services rendered.

Cindy Williams is a good example of the evil vermin filth that have infiltrated our society. She should be in prison for being a Communist.

I guess she thinks she deserves her ill gotten salary from her appointment by our illegal communist muslim usurping fraud and Jihadist.

This is the way Communist/Marxist have always worked. 2 set of rules, one for the Communists and another for their slave population.

I am over being nice or civil, after all we are dealing with complete criminal infiltrating frauds in our government and other parts of our society.

I say off with her head, & I hope a Muslim does it as this is what they love to do. I am sure Cindy is huggy, kissy with the savages wanting to give them rights and civil court proceedings. So it seems like the only civil thing to do. Again off with her head the Femi Nazi Fraud.

While Ms Williams is doing her 6mth rotation overseas on an airman’s pay. The widows ,— from whom our government steals $1154.00 monthly— will be setting in motion for our Senators and Congressmen ..( who also seem to feel that the widows in receipt of their annuity pay…. get enough money) to live on their annuity pay plus the VA DIC payment. The amount of which as stated above will be reduced by $1154 monthly even though the annuity is not funded by the government and their late husbands paid for every penny of that annuity for their wives and children. Perhaps if these Senators and Congressmen/women were forced to live on an actual persons wage or pension instead of voting themselves huge pay raises at our expense… They did not have to do without their COLA raises as many veterans and widows did the past two years.

The United States government needs to wake up and get a clue !! Servicemen putting their lives on the line every day deserve more than to have to leave their families to live on foodstamps and WIC …. Widows of these brave men who chose to fight for their country and preserve our freedoms deserve more than to have to choose between medication and food due to the stealing of their annuity pay their husbands paid for. Some like mine paid up in full before their deaths.

More lynch mob mentality. Why don’t you people stop believing every lie that is fed to you just because it feeds your hatred? The article was written in 2000 during the Bush administration. Ms. Williams held her position from 1994 – 1997 and was appointed By President Clinton, not President Obama. This article is dusted off, edited as desired and recirculated every so often to keep stirring the hatred. Below is a link to the original article.
